We start on a journey this week. This morning we've traveled with Jesus into Jerusalem and by the end of the service we travel to the cross. This is a quick journey and not like the actual week it took Jesus.
This last week has seen journeys take place. One ended with the new Archbishop of Canterbury coming in from a pilgrimage from London to Canterbury on foot. The first one of its kind in modernity. She said it is always good to take the journey with lots of people. Watch for the people you encounter and the ones you've invited on the journey.
I invite you to journey this week. Today is a short journey whereas if we faithfully journey Holy Week together we see things in the journey we haven't seen before. Take in each day as a journey along the way. Read your devotional, go to services, see who is there and make note of the others journeying in the story with us.
Do you hear something anew and fresh? Do you stop and take off your socks and shoes and let yourself be washed? Do you see people coming and going from the cross and hear each stop and what happened in a new light? Do you want to gather round with others and mourn how we might once again be nailing Jesus to the cross? Do you see that darkness isn't where it is worse, but can you see the light of one candle kindled and brought forth before everything becomes new?
We can't take the story in for one day only. Join the journey and see what comes of it. Join the walk and see if you tire or fall or find faith. Join the journey because life is that journey of hardship and renewal.
