We weep with those who weep,
mourning as if it were our own
Child who is gone, who will never
walk through the door, who
We'll never get to see marry, have
a child of their own, graduate.
We weep with those who were terrified,
thinking they wouldn't make it
To another day, those who now speak
with the stiff firmness of having
Suffered, and will never again look at
life as something free, robbed of
Their innocence before it was time.
We weep with those who weep,
because there will be no change,
Because there will be no empty
promises to help with this,
Because we accept this loss as
normal and not fight.
We pray with all those who have
lost, with those who can find
The ways of forgiveness, with the
ones who we bury, with the
Ones left here to deal with the tragedy,
with those who want to make
A difference and can't or won't.
