Go the next mile, turn the other cheek
It seems so easy to say, yet to do is something
When have you last walked an extra mile
When have you turned your cheek lately
Do you only stand in one spot refusing
To budge at all because it may look as
If you are not standing up for what is right
In your eyes or someone else's version
Do you not turn your cheek afraid it will
Look like surrender to another viewpoint
How do we live these words in even a
Fraction of what we mean, or are we so
Pharisaical right we don't have to act
When will we learn an eyeless and toothless
World is not the way for anyone, we only
End in dead martyrs hanging from a cross
Of or own design and making in grief
