Saving

Preserving photos, documents, drying things
  meaning making memories are dug out
Restoring some of what has been lost, so much
  damage has happened, so much taken
Loss is something we all face in one way or
  another, security, memories, life
Flooded by the raging waters of violence
  taken away, cast down the stream
Further and further away from the day and
  a true picture of mind, which does not
Exist because it is always changing, time
  it heals, yet this will be a forever
Memory...I was here, there, elsewhere
  overwhelmed, lost, tumbled, with
Family, friends, a community to start
  the hard efforts of finding ourselves
Among the debris of life, in story and
  songs long forgotten, lost once more
