A prayer

Come by the streams of living water
  come and dip in your troubles
The water will not carry it away
  only come alongside
To know you are not alone, to feel
  your belovedness in the ripples
Let go of the burden, you carry it
  not singly but with all those
Who plunge into the depths of trying
  to carry the cross together
Not as one individual isolated as
  an island, for we cannot
Do this on our own, we must have
  community to know we share
In different ways, this hurt, this pain
  this baptism of the circle of love
