Isaiah 58:1-12
Hello everyone, this is one of those times when you really have to be there to participate. It won't be the same if your at home because you won't get to hear others perspectives. Here is what to do if you want to try.
With all the noise going on we need some quiet to discover the scripture today. Maybe even to hear it without all the noise in our heads politically. So take three deep breaths. Notice the thoughts that rise in your mind, try not o obsess on one particular thought. Recognize it, let it go, it will still be there when you leave. One more deep breath. Now read Isaiah and listen.
http://bible.oremus.org/ you may have to type in the scripture.
This first time notice what words or phrase stands out to you. Write it down, or put it away.
Read Isaiah again. This time try to connect with what the word or phrase is speaking to you.
Read Isaiah one last time. With your word or phrase recognize what feelings are brought up. Is God calling you to do something? Are you recognizing things about yourself? Do you see something you need to improve? Take all of this into prayer. Listen, be still and quiet. Try to hear God's voice and talk with God, or Jesus, or the Spirit whatever works for you.
Take three deep breaths. Now go you are salt and light. Amen.
"O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your son: Look with compassion on the human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through pour struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen"
