The eve of a change
could they smell it in the air
feel it in the strangeness of the wind
Locked away in that upper room
was every shutter drawn
hoping nothing would make its way in
Safe after all that had happened
in a harbor of the familiar
knowing danger was just outside
The threshold of change coming
they don't want it yet, haven't asked
shut tight against the coming tide
It will come, can you feel it
pulling, tugging, the change in the air
wanting to draw out, draw open at last
Not yet, the edge is still there
the fear still lives in the room
break away, drop the chains
Smell it, feel it begin to blow through
wiping away every doubt
birthing faith at last again
