Gaze at the lush green rising
in starts and stops
Breaking through the dull brown
a delight to the eyes
Yet here it sneaks up on you
unaware, greener and greener
Day by day as flowers spring
short and sweet a delight
In the north where the snow covers
all with its brilliant diamond white
You yearn for a peak at green lush
because it is buried, sealed under
The white tomb taking it from eye
for months, and suddenly
A melt in a large area will reveal
the deep lushness of green
No brown to behold
just the lush carpet
To squeeze between toes
and feel the cold life
Held within the grip of death
a resurrection of spring
