The skies morning brilliance is gone in a flash
If you miss it, it is gone for the day, it doesn't
Last but a moment and we can choose to see
It or not, turning our eye inward, we ignore
Mother earth at our own peril, jogging or
Walking with devices budding out of our ears
Not listening, ignoring the cries of forgotten
Not caring if we are using and abusing her
Turning our ears and eyes off to the things
We take, things we rely on, things she can
Only give, we have mistreated our Mother
Yet we don't seem to care, it is much easier
To loose the facts in empty words, in not
Paying attention to what is lost and gone
But as a listener and watcher can only see
We have lost a beauty and deeply scarred it
Can we dare to take steps to love who bore us
If you miss it, it is gone for the day, it doesn't
