The day is offered up at the altar
All the tears, all pain, all fears,
All joy, all happiness, all rejoicing
Is gently laid and wrapped up
In the shadow of the cross that
Shows love and sorrow, weighted
And mingled in the juxtaposition
Of life and death hung suspended
Between two worlds not really
Belonging to either one, yet here
We come in the new day to receive
All we can pouring out our lives
And fears rolled up in the persons
We encounter as we stand at
The side of the bed and pray in
Earnest to the God of healing and love
