Face to face we kneel at the rail of communing
Deep running thoughts of our shared humanity
Etched on each face a gift from God
The gift of body and blood of renewed life
On our knees face to face no one is more
We all are the same, all children who have
Shared songs and hurts of life which draw us
In and around the common table sharing
More than the faith that brought us sharing
From cup and plate the things which bring
Us to new life and death twined in the facing
Because each time we kneel we admit we
Die, are dying to ourselves and rising beyond us
To the kingdoms shore in the leaves of healing
Washed new and clean into the possibility that
We are one no matter what the world might try to say
One in the Spirits tether around us kneeling
