Friends

Jesus calls us friends.

It adds a weight of responsibility

because in friendship

we work out our differences.

In friendship we travel

 the road together and not alone.

In friendship we lift up

concerns together,

we rejoice together when there is joy.

In friendship we listen closely

to our differences

instead of walking out

because we don't agree.

In friendship there is a depth

of knowing when to just be

and listen.

In friendship we laugh, cry, listen,

and break bread,

knowing the depths

of our common humanity.

Knowing we are on

the same road

and maybe have a little

different perspective.

In friendship we are bound together.
