We all fall short, each and every one of us. Romans 3:23 says this and so does Jesus, in various ways, to the religious authorities. There are two ways we can go on this. Either we feel as though we have God all figured out and live as if we are in the right condemning those we feel are wrong. Or we live condemned by what people say. We know w our own unworthiness.
This is why I like the verse from Romans because it levels the field. Lent does that too. If we truly take on what lent is about we see our own shortcomings and we expose ourselves to how others may struggle in the world. This opens us up to the depths of God's love for all of us.
It is important for us to take this love in and give it away. Lent is a time for us to reflect on the ways we connect with the world around us. I pray you have taken up something new that challenges and deepens your walk of faith.
