To the welcome wide which exists

In the tender places of God's realm.

Hidden away because of imagined barriers

we erect in order to protect the meaning.

All it does is deaden the joy of sharing,

the abundance of freely giving.

The open arms of love's door

is not just reserved for us,

but flung wide open in the words of Christ.

In the arms stretched wide to hold

a dying world and heal all the words

which say you aren't beloved,

you are other, you are unclean.

So open wide the table to the Spirit

of love which rains down the manna

of God's compassion on a world gone wrong.

Open wide the table to the possibility

of so much more than we can imagine.

Open wide the table of welcome

and watch the holy grow in our midst.
