Sitting at the feet

 Luke 10:38-42

Good morning! Look at the day outside! Mine is cloudy, rainy and beautiful! Watching the wind shake the trees. Seeing the patterns emerge from fresh rain. Watching the earth awake. Breath...take a deep breath...sit...

Feel the pull of busyness? Notice it...let it be... Don't surrender to do...

Usually with this scripture we talk about Mary or Martha. Who is most right, who gets short shrift, rarely do we stop, or ask what would it be like to sit at the feet? Where would we sit at?

Would we sit at a well in the heat of the day and be spoken to? Us, a woman, a black woman, a person of color, a Muslim woman in a hijab? Would we be asked to share a drink with this white, acceptable person? Is this a form of doing as well?

Sit...breath...sit...what would we hear? Words of blessing, hands reaching, words of love and treasure? Where is our treasure?

Sit...breath...absorb...the world is more, real...the birds, a frog, the light patter of rain, the stilling hush of crickets, the wind blows, the trees talk...

Do we absorb the world or are we consumed by it? Sit...breath...be touched, healed, take in the balm of quiet...

What will you experience if you take the time and sit at the feet of Jesus?

Sit...breath...hush...
