Startled

I look up startled by a landscape unfamiliar.

It shouldn't be, I have sat here at this table

Many times, drinking coffee, listening.

Today though, it glows, sunrise through clouds.

Unfamiliar, yet the same, but I don't know you.

This landscape of rose, hazy, special and maybe

This is the problem. The familiar loses its ability

To become a sacred surprise and I have learned.

Once again, pay attention! For the sacred and

The ordinary always collide, watch and wake!
