Drawn

Beside a well two women, two different times
Yes I will draw water, for you, for your camels
Why do you speak to me? A Jew, a woman
Less than worthy, related by the ancient well of
Family we draw near to the waters, not expecting
The sacred touch of story, of quenching thirst,
Cleansed women and men and children all gathered
By the ancient waters that have flowed for generations
Baptizing into living, in the Spirit, claimed forever
As old as the water, a sign of all God's good grace
A remembrance of these women, a healing
Balm of salvation come in the cleansing flood
Making us family with all past and present, witness
