Putting on the mantle

Sometimes God doesn't ask people to do attractive things: go back to the place where you murdered a man (Moses), go and be a prisoner (Joseph), go and tell people unpopular things and be killed (Jeremiah), go and marry a prostitute (Amos). It is not a mantle of right and wrong. It is not a mantle of a particular political party. It is a difficult, unpopular, dirty mantle that many times ends in unfulfillment because another picks up the entering into promise. Can we wear that mantle? Can we stand to be unpopular, derided, unaffiliated only to God? Can we let it rest in God's hands?
