Signs of life

They are all around, scattered throughout the yard
Walk and enjoy the signs that the cold death has
Not won and the new growth which springs from
The wet soil of earth, all kinds of wildflowers
Scattered here and there, each different and glorious
As small petals open to the sun yearning light,
Health, rain all to help its brief life during this stage
Not to fear, more will come, not scattered in riots
But carefully placed if you just stop to enjoy, share
A piece of time to take notice and stop the busy
Chatter that drowns them out, times when we don't
Pay attention because the gifts are right in front
Of us, if only we will tend the garden and look
