Drops

The rain starts softly, so gentle and slow
One here, another there as the light plays
In the sky revealing puffy clouds dancing
Then comes the constant thrum on the
Leaves of the great trees, across the water
You can see the plunge of each drop as it
Disturbs the surface in the opening clouds
God gets our attention in the small rains
The soft awakenings in our life where we
First feel disturbed, troubled by our views
Of life and where we stand in relation
Softly the winds of the Spirit blow encouraging
The change within where we find new ground
We are never the same again and the drops
Land squarely upon us baptizing in revelation
