Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
It is an amazing fact, yet we see all the things
We deem as what does separate us.
It is so easy to see the splinter in someone
Else's eye and miss our own log.
It is easier to judge others than to look
Into our own lives and take stock
Accounting for ourselves.
Today, today is the day that rings out
We are not separated from God's love.
As we bury a friend, a father, a grandfather
We know this rings true that he is claimed
A child of God, there is no distinction
As we place the baptismal robe
One last time, covering a life lived
As best as we all try to live this walk,
This faith, this fragile life filled
With the trials we face, the paths we walk
Today we are not separated from God's love
