Clean and unclean

Hidden beneath the mud and silt of sediment
Which overflowed and battered it
Covered with the burden of dark stain
Battered by the grinding of stone on stone
Yet out of this mud-encrusted gunk-filled stone
Comes a beauty defied by the weathering
It has endured buffeted by every whim of current
Deeply hidden in the heart of earth
Slimy, unfavorable to the eye
Staining those who would rather
Remain clean, yet beyond
Deep in the depths of the dirt
Itself, lies the gem of beauty
It can only take on it's luster
After suffering through so much
What is ugly, dirty has been reformed
