Cries

Can you hear them,
  all the way from Wounded Knee
To the trail of tears,
  the cries come because of the
Violation once again,
  like we have stepped back in
Time, never learning
  from our past sins, here we are
Once again. Causing tears
  of pain and separation, leaving
Lives scarred forever
  just as the residential schools
Once did. Children gone,
  parentless, what will happen?
Do we care at all?
  can't we hear the cries of the
Ancestors from violations
  past, can we ever heed the warning?
Do to others, love the
  stranger among you, help the orphan.
