Disappearing

The grass lies dead before us
Fields stretch out in welcome
To the deer and rabbits, turkeys
Graze and wander off into trees
The forest is the verge of shelter
Offering its branches of comfort
Mists dangle over the landscape
Hiding hill and vale in splendor
Giving the cold impression of
Distance and wrapping the
Landscape in mystery dripping
With possibility as the cardinal
Darts throwing color into the day
Come and sit, wonder, sing
Reverence the altar before you
