Dig

Dig deep into the earth,
  it is hard and brittle
For now is the time for
  sleep and rest, not
Growth and sun, or wind
  and rain. No this is
The time of sleeping, so
  to turn the soil will
Do no good, but to cover
  the beds, let them
Rest, until the sun peaks
  further in the sky
And the days lengthen
  in expectation
Of all which is to come,
  then dig, smell, be
Busy. The earth teaches
  us rest. Can we lay
Fallow and allow our rest,
  in hope of what will come.
