The summons

The sliver of a moon hangs in the sky, calling
Come, wander out and see, open your eyes
Wonder, take it all in deeply, seeing the beauty
In night among the stars, in the air, on the feet
Yet fear somehow worms its way,
    Unsettling all peace
Turning again to the sky it vanishes before
The stars, in between, come ponder the vast array
Set in motion long ago, lasting from age to age
Watching the dying star's tail in awe of what
Had been, what will be, the earth is stilled,
Hush, come, follow me to where thoughts end
Just being with the song of creation begun before
