No headlines, it's all taken up with supposed threat
Real is the threat that has played out in burning down
In hate filled words written to strong black women
We pray that love might win, that this may even
Catch a byline of attention as the real persecution
Of the church stands in the sidelines because of color
Because we cannot open our hearts expansively
To the deep mystery of God's steadfast love, womb love
As the prophet Jeremiah said, even though Israel
Forgot to love the widow, orphan, foreigner in
Their midst, must we too miss and destroy
One another or will we become open to see afresh
How God's expansive love dies to heal a hurting world
