Flow

The flow of love catches us off guard
In the tears streaming down our face
From grief of a friends loss or pain
Connected by a love greater than our
Own offering yet pulled into it's tethers

The flow of love catches us in laughter
Joined together in friendship, rejoicing
In the gift of shared silliness enjoying
The companionship of play not just
Joined in alone, by everyone in the room

The flow of love catches us as we share
In empathy for one another, truly listening
To story, hearing one another's hunger,
Emptiness, scars and pain hard to bear,
Joined by the common humanity we share

The flow of love catches us in joy divine
Rejoicing in another's fortune, caught in
The happiness of an accomplishment
A life's work, because competition is not
The point but being lifted up together
